I think that I replaced listening to my music collection with listening to podcasts. Why? Probably because I want to learn new things while driving. I’ve heard my music collection thousands of times. Even new CDs start to sound very familiar after the first few plays…
I wanted to organize my hard drive better, like having 2 partitions, instead of one, and use the second partition for storing podcasts and music only. The first partition was supposed to be only “system” partition.
To my surprise, I couldn’t re-install Windows XP. The XP installation hangs at “34 minutes left to finish the installation” point.
After few hours of frustration, it turned out the new picoPSU that I am using now in my carPC is not “Windows XP compatible”. This sounds ridiculous, but it is a fact. I changed the PSU with a regular ATX PSU and the XP installation finished without a single problem. After the installation finished, I returned the picoPSU back and XP did not notice the change. Go figure…
Microsoft reports this problem here. It looks like this problem appears when Windows XP starts installing devices.
Anyway, I just wanted to share my experience.
